More Trees Taking Root

The planting of trees is something that is taking hold across all our villages with hundreds now rooting in the soil. Because trees remove carbon dioxide from the air as they grow, tree planting can be used as a geoengineering technique to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere.

The comfort brought by these creations of nature is inspiring all to follow Amma’s instructions. She has asked that we incorporate love and reverence for nature into our lives.

“There is an inseparable bond between humanity and nature,” says Amma. “For human beings, there cannot be an existence removed from nature. However, because of thoughtless actions, the equilibrium is getting disturbed. The pulse of human life is becoming erratic, too….We cannot delay anymore. We must make the right decisions and embark on the right course of actions.”

Amrita SeRVe is offering every child celebrating a birthday to plant a tree in their school premises and water it year round. Also, in July, we distributed 390  fruit tree saplings in Deurbal, Chhattisgarah; 435 in Indpur, Himachal, Pradesh; 141 in Devgain, Jharkhand; 300 in Nagla Purviya, Uttar Pradesh; 50 in Dunda, Uttarakhand; and 60 in Maira, Punjab.
