Amma’s Bhubaneswar children celebrated Amma’s 64th birthday at IDCOL (Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited) Auditorium on the 11th of November. There, an Amrita SeRVe stall was set up by villagers from Guptapada and Bindhyagiri in Khorda district.
Artisan products, such as petticoats, organic tulsi and neem soaps, and organic mushrooms, made by 3 active self-help groups (SHGs) in the villages were exhibited and sold. The stall was inaugurated by Br Vijayamrita Chaitanya and was a big success, as all the items had sold out!
Urmila a member of Amma SHG in Guptapada village said this had been a great experience for her. She feels proud as she has started to earn money. She says these opportunity for the village girls will make them financially independent and will not force them to migrate out of the village for earning money.
