VILLAGE NEWS
Clean hands can help children to avoid stomach ache and diarrhoea. It also means they can develop more good habits for the future.
Anju, our Village Coordinator in Havelikheda, Madhya Pradesh, taught a group the seven steps to proper hand washing yesterday. Such lessons are an ongoing practice in our villages. Another element of the class emphasises when—especially before food and after toilet.
The impact of the teachings upon children is spreading to other members of the community. Elders tell us that they are learning how important it is to use soap to protect oneself from infection.
Many also say that learning this via the children is aiding them in having a newfound respect for the information. They put the children in school and so are putting value on what the kids are learning.
