Inauguration of Amrita SeRVe Tuition Centre of Arkabahali Pada

Colouring books, crayons and sweets brought smiles to the children’s faces. Nineteen (19) children joined the new tuition centre in their home village at Arkabahali Pada. The new Amrita SeRVe Tuition Centre was inaugurated on 11th October 2023.
Arkabahali Pada is located within the town of Bhawanipatna is which is part of Kalahandi district in Odisha. This village is a home to over 500 families. A significant number of them fall into the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category indicating that they face financial hardships.
“All of the students participating in our tuition program come from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, and their parents work as daily wage laborers in both government and private organizations. This context highlights the need for educational support and assistance in this underprivileged community,” says our coordinator in Odisha.
Inauguration of the event was graced by Smt. Satyabhama Negi, emeritus professor of Economics at Government Autonomous College Bhawanipatna.
The occasion commenced with lighting the lamp before Amma’s photo and chanting Amma’s Dhyana Sloka. As a devotee of Amma, Smt. Satyabhama Negi spoke about Amma and the organisation to all present.
Seven staff members from the Amrita JSS-Kalahandi also attended. The programme ended with Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, the peace prayer for happiness in all the worlds.
