Rural Sustainable Development Is Expanding
The broad scope of Amrita SeRVe has grown so much over the last few years that the Amrita School for Sustainable Development of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham university has now taken up the task of leading it forward.
Amma launched the Amrita Self-Reliant Village Program in 2013 during Her 60th birthday celebrations with the intention of making it a model for sustainable rural development. Now, the M.A. Math initiative has expanded its network to include various international universities. Once cooperation with the villagers is established, the local authorities and government officials are involved.
During the preliminary years, we have had a wide collaboration with:
AmritaSREE Self-Help Groups for Women Empowerment, M.A. Math
The Live-in-Labs, Amrita University
AMMACHI Labs and the Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality, Amrita University
AmritaCREATE, Amrita University
Embracing the World, M.A. Math
To find out more about the various activities that were done, you may search the Village News and Feature stories, as well as our extensive Publications section.
The work is continued by Amrita School for Sustainable Development, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
