Self-Defence Class for Girls
Friday, March 31, 2017
We are beginning self-defence classes for adolescent girls in our villages. This latest one took place in Guptapada, Odisha. Meghna, the daughter of the local Amrita Vidyalayam’s principal, taught the teens what to do if a man attempts to place a hold on them.
Self-defence for women is, unfortunately, of utmost importance in the kind of the world we live in today. Attackers usually refer to women as the weaker sex and consider them easy targets. Cases of gender violence are on the rise, so self-defence for women has become a necessity.
Self-defence skills prepare one to fight rather than freeze and learning them is a powerful way to surprise the attacker.
