The Digital Literacy Programme of Amrita CREATE has trained the Rajasthan tribal village youth in basic computing skills like word processing, using Internet and writing emails. Prineesh Nath, Amrita CREATE field officer for digital literacy, conducted six-day workshops in Sawai Madhopur district. 190 tribal students in the nearby schools also have been taught under this programme which aims to bring social equity to the tribals through digital inclusion.
The Digital Literacy course consists of hands on training in various computer programs using tablets, laptops and projectors. The classes are designed to include social and health awareness through videos. Exams are conducted and certificates distributed under this programme.
The title of Center of Excellence in Tribal Empowerment through Digital Inclusion (Amrita CoE-TEDI) was given to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
