The Amrita Mahila Kulu, an Amrita self-help group (SHG), of Sadivayal village in Tamil Nadu set an example by teaching the income generation methods, they had learned to a group of 14 young girls from Attapadi village, a neighbouring community. The one-day training program was organised by the Electronics and Communications department of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetam University at Ettimadai Campus. This so-called Training the Trainers program was part of the income generation efforts initiated by Amrita SeRVe. Training was given on making bathing soap, washing bar soap, liquid hand wash, and liquid dish wash.
After the training, the girls group thanked the head of the Electronics and Communications department and other supporting faculty members from Ettimadai campus, namely Dr Jaykumar, Peeyush K.P, Dr Santosh Kumar C, and MG Santosh. They also expressed their gratitude to the Amrita SeRVe SHG group from Sadivayal Village.
