Stitching Clothes to People Nearby

Kottumuthu and her husband lives in Idukki, Kerala. They have a daughter whose future education Kottumuthu was worrying a lot. Her husband works a wage employeed with low income. They could not meet the basic needs of life with this income, in a rented house being their home.

Her lack of education did not help getting any sufficient job. Kottumuthu did whatever small jobs were available. She felt that she wanted a steady income.

When she was thinking about what to do for her daughter’s future, she came to know about Amrita JSS through people close to her. When visited the Amrita JSS office, she was provided with the information of course details resulting that her choice was the Assistant Dress Maker.

With great interest she learned. Her earnings increased by stitching clothes to people nearby. After fully completing the training, she stitched a variety of garments like lehengas, churidars and blouses.

Stitching orders at home became a full-time job. “I can easily earn 10,000 rupees to 13,000 per month,” she says happily.
