Tracking Vital Health Signs

This child was near death due to pneumonia at the end of June. Three months later, health check is clear

Careful checking of pregnant women and new babies continues in our villages. The strengthening of health at these stages is a vital aspect of our health work so the next generation is well rooted.

Jamuna is our Health Worker in Deurbal, Chattisgarh. She recently administered booster, tetanus, penta (vaccines) and bcg (for tuberculosis) shots to 8 pregnant women.

Six new babies also had their vital signs, weight and overall health checked.

One of the children is the same baby who nearly died of pneumonia at the end of June. Pneumonia had taken hold, but Jamuna was able to identify the condition in time and get the baby to hospital. The baby had stopped taking mother’s milk, which is an indicator Jamuna learned in health worker training.

The child is in fine health now at four months of age.
