A Small Repair Brings Big Help

Monday, October 31, 2016

In Devgain, Jharkhand, there was an open drain in front of the primary school which the students had to jump to cross. This lead to small accidents at times, as kids would fall down in it.

The Amrita SeRVe Fellow, Chandan, discussed the problem with the school management and villagers. Together they decided to do something about it.

They placed cement beams over a portion of the drain, covered it with cement bags and an iron grid, then plastered over it. Even the school kids helped in this task. Now they have a path over the drain by which they can safely walk.
